You are here: Korea
I went to Korea, specifically Seoul, with friends Colin Silvester and Tracie Higashi over Spring Break '94. None of us speak Korean, but were able to get around on a mixture of English, Japanese, and pointing and gesturing. Our first restaurant experience was exactly that: Sitting down and pointing at a bowl another patron was eating and holding up three fingers. We got some garlicky noodle soup, which was quite tasty. At our hotel, we were able to communicate with Japanese, and we used English with random people on the street, including one woman who came to proselytize Christianity to us and then walked away without another word.
