Children: Singapore Zoo
The first time I went to Singapore was as a precursor to my Malaysia trip. I spent a few days there, followed by a few days on Pulau Tioman. Singapore is a very nice place to visit, clean and safe (one of the benefits, I suppose, of a totalitarian Big Brother-like government). It's not very big, though, so it's easy to take in the entire city in a few days. This trip took place in May '96, when my students were having their midterm exams.
The second time I was in Singapore was in March '97, after I left Taiwan. I passed through the airport on my way to Penang, and ended up there again on my way back. On the second trip, I only went to the zoo, which is one the top zoos in the world, and well worth the trip.
