You are here: Taiwan
Children: Taipei | Around Taipei | People
After returning from Japan, I was home at my parents' house for a little while (during which time I did the Cancun trip and my first Hawaii trip), and then I was off to Taiwan for five months. I wanted to brush up on my Chinese, since it was kind of embarrassing that I was near-fluent in Japanese but not my own first language. I stayed with my aunt and uncle in Taipei and took some language courses. I tried to teach English to make a few bucks, but it was difficult to find anyone who would hire someone for less than a year, so I had a couple of classes, but basically a lot of free time. I spent this time roaming around Taipei and the surrounding areas, learning how to rollerblade, doing a lot of reading (the library had a decent selection of books in English), and practicing photography.
I had originally planned to spend six months in Taipei but I got really bored, so I cut it short a month early and went to Malaysia (via a quick stop in Japan) instead.
